About us
Producing unique Rieslings that capture the distinctive personality of our great vineyard sites on the MOSEL, SAAR and RUWER has been our mission at wine-estate Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt for more than 650 years - and is both a challenge and an opportunity we face every day.
Since 2005 we are VDP-member.
Currently we are cultivating 50 hectares.
35 hectares of our vineyards are located in 15 different VDP.GROSSE LAGEN, including our monopole site JOSEPHSHÖFER on the Mosel (5 ha), Kasel NIES'CHEN on the Ruwer, SCHARZHOFBERGER on the Saar.
Grape varieties: Riesling, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir (planted in 2022)
We tend our steep vineyards by hand and winemaking in Schloss Marienlay in the Ruwer-valley is thoughtfull and careful.
Our wines are authentic and terroir-driven: vibrant, fruity and mineral-inflected Riesling with stimulating acidity; creamy and harmonious Pinots.

PROFILE:
This is a juicy, powerful, sumptuous VDP.GROSSES GEWÄCHS® (GG) from our monopole vineyard Josephshöfer. A hint of “sponti” on the nose along with flint, apricot and liquorice aromas. Harmonious and rounded on the palate. Complex, stimulating and persistent on the finish.
2022 SCHARZHOFBERGER Riesling Kabinett feinherb / semi-dry, SAAR

Fascinating complexity. captivates the senses. Mouth-watering aromas of gooseberry and rhubarb on the nose, marrying beautifully with a hint of passion fruit and exotic freshness. The first sip captures this Riesling Kabinett in all its glory, with a juicy mouthfeel enveloping the palate to reveal passion fruit notes that will intensify with each further sip. The flavours are dancing, vibrant and sensual.
2022 Kasel NIES'CHEN Riesling Spätlese, RUWER
Total area: 14 ha, our part 4,7 ha
A classic representative of its vineyard. Very complex on the nose, with apple, apricot and gooseberry aromas intertwined. Complex flavours open up on the palate, with fruit complemented by attractive spice and herbal notes. The perfect balance of sweetness and acidity rounds off this finely judged wine.
