Felsengartenkellerei Besigheim is located in south-western Germany, between Stuttgart and Heilbronn. It’s an important winegrowers' cooperative. It owes its name to the shell limestone rocks that characterise the landscape here. They rise steeply above the idyllic Neckar Valley. The landscape is characterised by terraced steep slopes and dry stone walls. Under the sign of the golden lizard (heralic animal), 400 winegrowing families from 10 wine-growing communities with 537 hectares of cultivated land are united.

The Felsengartenkellerei has been named Germany's best wine cooperative more than a dozen times at major wine competitions. This impressive string of successes is the result of a consistent premium philosophy. The vineyard plays the biggest role in determining the quality of a wine. Oenologist Sebastian Häußer selects the best sites with great care. The winegrowers reduce the grape quantities by by hand and remove foliage so that the vines can soak up as much sun as possible and develop a ripe skin. In the wine press, each individual grape is photographed and examined – a high-tech quality check with AI support. The premium wines are aged in wooden barrels. Most of the wood for the barrels comes from oak trees that grow in the forests near the cooperative. It is processed into barrique barrels by the best coopers in Burgundy.
