Présentation
Graf von Schoenborn - The name Schönborn is closely linked to the wine culture in Germany. Since the High Middle Ages, wine has been produced on the ancestral land of the Counts of Schönborn in the Rheingau and their Franconian lands.
The Schloss Hallburg winery in Franconia is located two kilometers from Volkach, surrounded by vineyards in a picturesque landscape. The property includes 30 hectares of vineyards in the Volkacher Mainschleife.
It is planted with typical Franconian grape varieties: Silvaner, Riesling, Bacchus, Müller-Thurgau, Traminer, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir.
The Schloss Schönborn winery in the Rheingau is certainly the only winery in the Rheingau to have vineyards that stretch from Rüdesheim in the west to Hochheim in the east.
With around 40 hectares, it is one of the largest family wineries in the Rheingau.
The first documented mention of viticulture by the Schönborn family can be found in records from 1349. The winery is currently resting in a beauty sleep.
