Weingut Christian Steitz
Présentation
Shaped by raw, unrelenting winds and ancient volcanic rock, winemaking here is not simply a craft but a commitment - in the wild, rugged panorama of the Rheinhessische Schweiz. Steitz represents a benchmark for terroir-driven organic wines, waiting to be discovered. Its soul reveals itself in cool, mineral Rieslings, quiet reflections of wind, volcanic stone, and time.
Finn, at just 22, moves in the footsteps of father and grandfather, continues to refine this vision, pushing for even greater purity and precision.

Steitz Line
The Steitz Line forms the foundation of our portfolio. It features approachable, contemporary organic wines crafted from classic varieties such as Riesling, Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc and Silvaner. All wines are gently vinified in stainless steel and produced under the Fair’n Green sustainability standard. They offer clear varietal expression, freshness and moderate alcohol. The packaging, with its clean and modern design, underscores the high-quality character of the wines.
Steitz Herkunft
Steitz Herkunft represents our most expressive wines from the best sites of the Rheinhessische Schweiz structured into Estate, Village and Single Vineyard wines.
All wines are made from traditional grape varieties and express a distinct sense of origin. Hand harvest, spontaneous fermentation, extended lees aging and maturation predominantly in wood define the style. The wines are organically produced, farmed according to the principles of regenerative agriculture and currently transitioning toward biodynamic cultivation. The packaging highlights the individuality of each site through a distinctive graphic design.
Riesling Estate Wine
The Riesling Estate Wine is the signature of our winery and exemplifies the modern, clean style of the Steitz line. It combines a strong sense of origin, organic farming and precise craftsmanship in a wine that makes our philosophy immediately tangible.
Mineral-driven, lively and with moderate alcohol.
If you are looking for a classic entry-level German Riesling at an excellent price point, this is the right choice.
Porphyr Riesling
Grown on volcanic porphyry soils on the west-facing slope of the Heerkretz site. Hand-picked grapes, spontaneously fermented and matured in Stückfass barrels. Mineral tension and dark, spicy fruit.
This wine represents the entry-level Riesling within the Steitz Herkunft line.
Spätburgunder Estate Wine
Alongside our Riesling Estate Wine, the Pinot Noir Estate Wine is a key focus at our winery. Both varieties perform exceptionally well in international markets.
Aged for over a year in barrique barrels and crafted with moderate alcohol, this wine reflects the energetic and precise style of the Steitz line. It represents an ideal entry-level Pinot Noir with structure, clarity and a modern, approachable profile.
Chardonnay Alte Reben
Within the Steitz Herkunft line, our focus lies fully on Chardonnay and Riesling.
The Chardonnay comes from vines over 30 years old, rooted in one of the coolest and stoniest sites in Rheinhessen, shaped by volcanic melaphyre. Hand selection, spontaneous fermentation and maturation in barrique, combined with a late sulfur addition, result in a wine of refined creaminess, layered depth and unmistakable cool-climate precision.
Grenzland Cuveé Blanc Chardonnay & Weißburgunder
Within the Steitz Herkunft line, our estate wines are bottled under the label GRENZLAND.
GRENZLAND Cuvée Blanc is a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc from some of our best vineyards. The grapes are hand-picked, spontaneously fermented and matured in wood. The result is an elegant, creamy wine with a saline freshness – the ideal introduction to the Steitz Herkunft line.
Why GRENZLAND?
GRENZLAND represents an origin formed on the edge.
These wines reflect a landscape of transitions between Rheinhessen and the Donnersberg region, shaped by raw winds and ancient volcanic stone.
