About us
With a very rich wine-growing tradition dating back to 1509, Weingut Spiess is one of the more traditional and historic wineries in Rheinhessen Germany.
Our major grape varieties are Riesling, Pinot Noir and white burgundy varietals such as Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay but also some special wines from Syrah.
We cultivate 43 hectares of south facing vineyards in a warm southern part of Rheinhessen. These vineyards offer ideal conditions for juicy, complex wines with elegant charm and each bottle of our wines also reflects the region’s unique blend of warmth, fertile loess-clay soils and calcareous substratum terroir.
Through our focus on premium quality, we have established ourselves as the front runner among the Rheinhessen wine producers over the past 20 years and are able to offer wine lovers all over the world the highest level of enjoyment.

Pinot Noir dry
Basic Pinot Noir with finesse!
Spicy nose with fine aromas of red fruits. Subtle wooden barrel insert gives the otherwise quite slim body character and depth without making it too heavy. Nice traction on the palate and a round finish.
Bechtheim Pinot Noir
For Pinot lovers!
The Bechtheimer Pinot Noir stands for a grape selection from our Burgundian Pinot Noir clones. The grapes are small and loose-grained and give the Pinot great aromatic depth.
In the nose, red fruits join a racy spice and a graceful acidity. This is rounded off by fine-grained tannins.
Riesling dry
Our liquid business card!
Uncompromising Riesling, from our younger plots, with lots of yellow fruit and lemon zest on the nose. A combination of lightness and fullness paired with juiciness and minerality. The refreshing acid structure underlines the animating character of this Riesling.
Chardonnay >>R<< dry
,, A parade Chardonnay. Caramel candy and latte meet apple sauce and yellow plum. Wood-influenced style, but still light and refreshing thanks to the balanced acidity. Wonderful. Chardonnay »Reserve« is a selection of the most spectacular small wooden casks. Only the densest and most aromatically complex but finest casks are selected.
Bechtheim Riesling dry
A real treat for the palate!
Delicate aromas of peach and apricot meet in the nose. In the mouth there is a pronounced minerality with a racy acidity that encourages drinking. This gives the wine a lot of grip on the tongue. A long, intense finish on the palate.
Spontaneously fermented in stainless steel tanks and matured with long yeast storage!
