About us

Winery Jakoby-Mathy
The Jakoby-Mathy winery cultivates a total of 5 hectares of vineyards in Kinheim, an idyllic wine-growing village in the heart of the Middle Mosel, located between Bernkastel-Kues and Traben-Trarbach. The grapes come from the local steep slate vineyards of Kinheimer Hubertuslay and Rosenberg. Some of the vines are over 50 years old and yield small, aromatic grapes rich in finesse year after year — the foundation for the wines’ unique character and flavor.

The winery’s philosophy is to produce pure, elegant wines full of drinking pleasure that always reflect their origin.

2024 Fang des Tages dry (catch of the day)

A fresh, juicy white wine cuvée with vibrant fruit character, predominantly shaped by Riesling. Delicate exotic fruit aromas round off the profile, adding a touch of finesse and elegance. A perfect match for fish and seafood of all kinds – steamed, pan-fried, or smoked. It also pairs beautifully with poultry, grilled pork, and crisp fresh salads.

Grauschiefer (grey slate) Riesling trocken

A racy, hearty dry Riesling with vibrant, juicy fruit. Reminiscent of fresh peaches, green apples, and a touch of smoky minerality. Overall, a well-balanced wine offering plenty of flavor and drinking pleasure. An excellent companion to fish and seafood dishes, as well as delicate veal and poultry preparations.

2024 Kinheimer Riesling trocken (village)

Very decent, elegant nose reminiscent of green and yellow apples, white peaches and hint of flint. In the taste very crisp, with a smoky, salty minerality and aromatic fruit (Apples, Peaches, Quince) The typical „kick“ acidity gives a perfect balance.

Nutritious, aromatic dishes, fried pork, chickenstrong sauce also very nice with all kinds of fish especially with smoke fish

2024 Kinheimer Riesling feinherb (village)

The subtle minerality gives this off-dry Riesling its lively and expressive character. A finely balanced interplay of sweetness and acidity highlights elegant fruit aromas reminiscent of apricot, ripe apple, and citrus.

An excellent pairing with marinated chicken, leafy salads, spicy curries – or simply as a versatile companion for an enjoyable evening with friends.

2024 Weißburgunder (Pinot Blanc) dry

A juicy and aromatic Pinot with enticing fruit aromas (yellow apple, stone fruit) and a fine, typical Pinot spiciness on the finish.

An excellent companion to asparagus, fresh salads, steamed fish, and poultry dishes.

2024 Kinheimer Riesling Kabinett

Crumbly, weathered blue Devonian slate. The vast majority of the grapes come from the single vineyard Kinheimer Rosenberg with a barrel of our Kinheimer Hubertuslay vineyard added to the final wine. Characteristic Made from just ripe, healthy yellow grapes. Slow, cool fermentation. Lively and fresh Riesling with “crunchy” fruit and refreshing, well balanced acidity. Delicately fruity with a mineral touch, not “sweet”. All what delights the tongue and senses.

2023 Alte Reben (old vines) Riesling dry

From vines over 50 years old, grown in one of our steepest parcels of the Kinheimer Hubertuslay vineyard. Highly aromatic on the nose, with notes of vineyard peach, quince, and herbs. On the palate, racy and vibrant with salty minerality and classic Riesling fruit— apple, citrus, and a hint of peach. The characteristic zing of acidity provides perfect balance.

An excellent match for bold, aromatic dishes, pork or poultry with rich sauces, as well as smoked sausages and fish specialties.

2024 Kinheimer Rosenberg Riesling Spätlese (late harvest)

A complex bouquet reminiscent of a basket of ripe, juicy fruit. Fine, succulent berry notes with a delicate hint of honey. Spicy, mouth-filling fruit that lingers, with a subtle play of acidity on the finish. A great, noble Riesling.

An ideal companion to raw milk cheeses, spicy and aromatic Asian dishes, or simply to enjoy on its own for pure pleasure.

2024 Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) Rose

An aromatic, fruity rosé with plenty of ripe fruit aromas (red currant, a hint of raspberry). The Mosel-typical touch of lively acidity and a trace of slate minerality beautifully reflect the wine’s origin.

Ideal with crisp salads featuring a fruity dressing, marinated and spiced poultry, or simply as an easy-drinking “Zechwein” to enjoy with friends on the terrace.

1994 Kinheimer Rosenberg Riesling Spätlese (late harvest)

Very aromatic on the nose, reminiscent of morels, ripe yellow apple, quince, and a smoky spontaneous yeast note. On the palate, herbal and delicately fruity, with peach, mirabelle plum, and a touch of yeast. The subtle sweetness on the finish is perfectly balanced by lively acidity.

An excellent companion to spicy Asian dishes, Indian curries, or simply as a refreshing, easy-going wine to enjoy after a long day.

Riesling brut (sparkling)

Juicy, fresh Riesling fruit with a hint of citrus and apple, low residual sugar, and well-balanced acidity. Our Riesling Sekt Brut is the perfect companion as an aperitif at the start of a lovely evening. It pairs wonderfully with oysters, seafood, and smoked fish during a meal.

2018 Kinheimer Rosenberg Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese

Finest berry sensations, delicately scented with exotic fruits, peach, dried apricots, and honey. Perfectly balanced acidity, very concentrated yet elegant and persistent, with a refined, subtle sweetness. Best enjoyed on its own to fully appreciate the richness of the fruit. This wine is perfect with desserts, rich pâtés (such as foie gras in all variations), and flavorful cheeses (e.g., blue cheeses).
